After several ear infections in a row this past winter, and some hearing issues, we decided to make an appointment with an Ear Nose and Throat Dr. She confirmed that there was still fluid in one ear drum and Ashley's tonsils and adnoids were abnormally large. So, we set up a surgery to remove them on August 8. We had to arrive early, by 6:30am. Grandma and grandpa came to watch over big brother. Thank you to them. We had lots of people praying. Ashley was so brave. She didn't complain about anything before the surgery. The surgery itself lasted about 20-25 min. I got to go in with her until she fell asleep. She also had her dog "Valentine" with her. She got an ID as well. I prayed over her as she lay there. She drifted off quickly. Then we waited. She took awhile to wake up after the surgery. That was definitely the hardest part. We could tell she was in discomfort and did not want to swallow. We so badly wanted to take away her pain. But we knew she was in God's hands. After awhile, we moved to a recovery room. She was sleeping and trying to recover. She did get sick once. Then around 11:30am we left for home. The staff at Sioux Falls Surgical Center was amazing. They were so kind, loving, supportive and encouraging. Home to recover, rest and try to eat and drink. Nothing sounds good when you have a painful sore throat. We are hoping ice cream will bring some joy later....
