Dad's Words To Us!

Things are still coming to mind in the days and moments before my dad left this earth. Things that my mind misplaced with the tragedy. Each year, during our vacation on the lake, my dad tried his best to gather the whole family to share a Bible reading and devotion with us. We were all gathered in the living room on the Sunday before my dad died. He shared that he and my mom had been reading through the Bible together. They were reading in Exodus. He told us that the Israelites struggled to obey God, just as we do. But, the Israelites did have positive times of obedience. He read from Exodus 24:7, "Then he (Moses) took the Book of the Covenant and read it to the people. They responded, 'We will do everything the LORD has said; we will obey.'" Today at church, we started a sermon series on 1 Peter. We belong to God! God knows us. We are called to obey and be holy, with the Holy Spirit living in us. This is all possible through the blood of Jesus washing us clean. My pastor had us turn to the very verse my dad spoke to us that Sunday in the living room. The memory overwhelmed and rushed through my mind and emotions. I could hear my dad speak and see his face! He loved us so much, just as my heavenly Father loves me and cares for me each day. It is amazing to see how God works. Beth Moore shared from Exodus, about the birth of Moses, in the conference we attended days after the burial of my dad. I thank God for the hugs from heaven! Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
