Psalm 37:23 says, "The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives." God directed our nearly 4000 mile-- through 10 states--family road trip. We planned to take a trip out to California and last year. We spent several days planning the route, booking hotels and creating our itinerary this past March. We also had help from a friend of ours who took a similar trip to the Southwest. This was a first for our family. We have gone to the same resort in Northern Minnesota since the kids were born. So after planning, packing and a few worries, we brought our itinerary to life! God delights in every detail. He created so many beautiful things for us to explore. It was amazing to see the scenery change from the plains, to the mountains, to the desert, to the oceans. We slowly worked our way to the ocean, over a week. We hiked, had picnics, climbed through lava tubes, stood breathless before the Grand Canyon, swam in the ocean and explored the ocean creatures in tide pools on the rocks of Laguna beach. The kids loved riding the waves of the Pacific Ocean. It was actually warm enough to swim, which doesn't always happen.
